I don't think you should miss it! Your child will be proud of himself and you can take pictures for him to look at later. Who cares about what your husband thinks. With all of the kids talking about it your son will wonder why his parents didn't think it was important enough to go while his friends parents did. If your husband doesn't want to go find a way to go without him. That way you will have no regrets later. You can't EVER turn back the hands of time, remember that.

Our Education system is screwed up.
I grew up without a Graduation party from kindergarten through the 8th.We had one for the 8th grade because our school went from Kindergarten to 8th and it wouldn't have bothered me if we hadnt had one.I think it should be reserved for Seniors only. After 12 yrs, of putting up with our dysfunctional school systems and it's faculties(not all faculty members), they deserve it.

Graduations are usually done for the parents. The children often find them boring, meaningless and sometimes frightening. They also dilute the meaning of graduating from High School or College. A more appropriate way of celebrating the end of the year would be a small party or picnic on school property when the children could sing a few songs. I think your husband has the right idea.

I would say your husband has an issue with this kindergarten situation. Your son will certainly get over it and will undoubtedly not be scarred for life if your husband doesn't attend but, why not just get a ride there and have him show up? I think your husband needs to own up to his responsiblity to his son and come up with a better excuse than he doesn't want to drive in that part of town or just get on with it and show up. It's not your son's problem -- he will have to get used to his dad -- but, it sounds like your husband is making a problem where there doesn't have to be one.

Neither my daughter nor son attended their kindergarten graduation. They are 7 and 8 now and don't know the difference. But, I do. I feel like I missed a milestone in their lives that I can't ever get back. So when thinking about this, as selfish as it sounds think of how you would feel if you missed it.

I wish they had that for my son when he was in Kindergarten.

Your husband doesn't want to be at that very important milestone of your sons life--good for him--see if there is someone else that you can ride with or follow and take all the pictures you can.

Be there--it's important in your childs life.
