It can take 3-6 yrs to earn your B.A. or B.S in Education. It depends on your gradees and financial aid situation. You would want to study Early Childhood Educ. If you want to teach english/ social studies, then go for your B.A. But if you want to teach with more emphasis on science/ math, get your B.S. You also need to be dedicated. In some states, you can earn your associates degree and become a teacher. Then, take evening classes (that the Dept of Educ. pays for).

  1. Kindergarten falls under the K-5 elementary certificate. All you need is a four year, Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. You have a semester of Student teaching and then you can apply for your certificate. Do not be alarmed if you do not do your student teaching at the level you think you want to teach.
